Into a Different World
Wow! What a month! If every there was an appropriate time for exclamation points, this is it. The month started out pretty normally. After completing production of The Boston Massacre, my wife and I went up to our Virginia house – into which we a very slowly moving. Shortly thereafter, we decided that staying in Southwest Virgina made more sense than going back to the – likely infected – crowds of Central Florida.
While it turned out to be a great decision – as there are few covid-19 cases here (yet) – it did present some challenges. For these purposes, the biggest was creating a studio in which I could record high quality audio for these stories.
After several packages from Amazon, a few strategically placed blankets, and some wiring, I manged to create a makeshift studio that sounded reasonably good. That enabled me to finally get back to recording and editing and the result is finally ready, The Widow’s Cruise by Frank Stockton.
Now that I can record again, I plan to spend the weekend getting a new story or two read. I should be posting more next week.
As we are all stuck at home, I hope these stories are helping the time pass more enjoyably. If there is an old story you’d love the hear during lockdown, please drop me a note and I’ll add it to the queue.
Please take good care of yourself and stay safe and healthy. It’s a good time to contact those you care about electronically. Maybe they, too, would like to listen to some classic short stories.
