Summer Slowdown
While I would wish it otherwise, “Litreading” remains my hobby. As such, it must often take a back seat to other aspects of life; family, career, health, etc. Despite the podcast’s relative popularity, it still only ekes out enough income – from advertising – to pay its own way. It will take ten times the current number of listeners to even provide my family a small supplemental income. With your help, I hope this might happen in a few years when I retire from my primary career.
However, as the job settles into a better routine and my wife and I settle into our main home for the next few years, I hope that my output of “Litreading” tales can return to a more steady flow. My goal has always been one story per week. I apologize for having landed far short of that objective over this past spring and summer.
For the 2021 Halloween season, I have produced two new scary stories, O. Henry’s The Furnished Room and Poe’s The Cask of Amontillado. Please share the chills with your friends and families this Halloween. I also hope you’ll consider subscribing and reviewing “Litreading” at Apple Podcasts – or just subscribing on your favorite podcast service.
One other show note: Due to a decided lack of interest from young listeners (possibly due to the proliferation of visually stimulating kid video services), I am reducing the production of “Readastorus” stories to just a few new ones per year. One young reviewer in Canada honestly stated, “Love the story’s [sic] but some are boring.” I get it. Most adults prefer visual stimulation to merely aural. Thank goodness for driving.
Next month, I will be finishing my new recording studio. I will share some behind-the-scenes information about how my podcasts are created and the equipment and systems I use to try and make a high-quality product.
Thanks for listening, and have a fun, safe Halloween.
